Control syringes are commonly used in angiographic procedures to inject viscous contrast media, medications, and saline.
There are two types of control syringes commonly used in angiographic procedures:
Fixed-Luer Syringes
Rotating-Luer Syringes
Fixed-luer syringes feature a solid, one-piece design that enables secure, leak-free connections, but connecting and disconnecting them from catheters and manifolds can be awkward.
Rotating-luer syringes are easier to connect and disconnect as a result of their O-ring design, but they are prone to loose, wobbly connections and air leakage, putting patients at risk of air embolism.
